Background

Organic products in the Eurpean Union are protected through Regulation (EC) No. 834/2007, and controls shall ensure consumer protection and fair competition. During recent years, the organic marketplace has grown considerably in the EU member states.Trade exchange of organic products becomes more common between the EU member states and third countries. The project shall support control bodies and control authorities to adjust to the dynamic development of the organic markets and to the changing requirements to implement effective and efficients inspections.

Aims

The project shall facilitate an open-minded exchange between control bodies in Europe on state-of the art inspection methodologies and techniques to optimize consumer protection and fair competition on the emerging green market for products from organic farming.
